Throughout July 2026, our team will be in the field in Barcelona to gain a concrete understanding of:

how the city has become a European benchmark for accessibility,
how public transport, roads and urban services have been designed with and for people with reduced mobility,
what the drivers and successes are, but also the limitations and battles that remain to be fought.

We will meet with local associations, users, activist groups and institutions to document their practices and struggles.

Meetings, round tables and workshops at the Congress

On 10 and 11 July 2026, in the heart of Barcelona, the Congress for Inclusive Mobility in Europe will take place:

Round tables with associations, collectives, experts and institutions.
Participatory workshops on:
public transport (metro, bus, train, tram)
roads and public spaces
coordination between all stakeholders (collectives, cities, transport operators, Europe)
sharing difficulties and solutions in different countries

The Congress for Inclusive Mobility in Europe is:

open to all, with a particular focus on associations, activists and institutions,
free of charge,
requires registration for on-site participation,
freely accessible online via live stream,
organised in French, English and Spanish (with translation).

The Barcelona Declaration: A political act

At the end of these two days, we will co-create the Barcelona Declaration for inclusive mobility in Europe.

This declaration will be:

a militant act, supported by associations, collectives and individuals concerned,
a clear message to European institutions: inclusive mobility must become a political and budgetary priority,
a tool to challenge, mobilise and exert pressure at all levels (local, national, European).

Why act? Freedom of movement is not a reality

oday, nearly 150 million citizens of the European Union have reduced mobility. For them, the freedom to move – a fundamental right – is still too often an unfulfilled promise.

Accessibility varies enormously from one country to another, from one city to another, sometimes even from one transport line to another.

What the Congress for Inclusive Mobility in Europe brings:

Accessibility already exists - let's spread it all over Europe!

Our goals with the Congress for Inclusive Mobility in Europe:

Promote inclusive mobility

Promote inclusive mobility in public transport and cities, so that everyone can move freely.

Showcase good practices

Identify, showcase and disseminate good practices already implemented in Europe.

Create a European network

Create a European network of stakeholders committed to accessibility: associations, collectives, experts, institutions and transport operators.

Give citizens a voice

Give a voice to those who live with reduced mobility every day, and turn their testimonies into a political lever.
